Shocking: Department of Justice Opens the Door to Handgun Sales to People Under 21 Years Old

DANBURY, CT – Abbey Clements, survivor of the 2012 Sandy Hook School tragedy, executive director and co-founder of Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence, released the following statement after the Department of Justice released a new legal memo late Friday opening the door to allowing 18-20 year olds to purchase handguns.

“Firearms are the leading cause of death of children and this decision does absolutely nothing to fix this shameful problem,” said Clements. “This shocking decision from the Department of Justice to allow handgun sales to young people is more of the same guns everywhere agenda from the gun lobby that makes our schools less safe and will lead to more gun violence in our communities.”
